Taj Branded Villas Darjeeling
Ambuja Neotia is developing Taj branded luxury villas in Darjeeling as part of a significant hospitality and residential expansion announced in July 2025. The project is developed under a partnership with Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), with plans for the development to come on stream over the next five years.
The Partnership
The agreement was signed between IHCL, Taj Hotels' parent company and the hospitality arm of Tata Group, and the Kolkata-based Ambuja Neotia Group. The 15 new sites across West Bengal, Sikkim and Himachal Pradesh are a combination of greenfield, brownfield and conversion projects, expected to be completed in the next three to seven years.
Darjeeling's Appeal for Luxury Development
Darjeeling is a popular hill station in West Bengal and is known as the 'Queen of Hills'. Situated in the Lesser Himalayas, it serves as the headquarters of the Darjeeling district. A popular tourist destination with significant development history, the town's economy has progressed with growing demand for better resource utilisation due to tourism growth.
The region has established infrastructure for premium hospitality. Ambuja Neotia already operates Taj Chia Kutir, a luxury resort in nearby Kurseong, within the Darjeeling district.
