AMBUJA TAJ BRANDED VILLAS LATAGURI — New Project Coming Up in Lataguri, Dooars, Jalpaiguri

A Taj Branded Hospitality Development in Lataguri

Ambuja Neotia's Taj branded villas in Lataguri are part of a partnership between the developer and Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), Taj Hotels parent company. The project is one of seven premium hotels announced in February 2025 across a luxury hospitality circuit in destinations including Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Lataguri, Digha, the Sundarbans, Shantiniketan, and Raichak, with total investment of roughly Rs 1,200 crore for 600 five-star rooms across the circuit.

The Partnership and Strategic Expansion

In July 2025, Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) signed an agreement with the Kolkata-based Ambuja Neotia Group for 15 new hotels across West Bengal, Sikkim, and Himachal Pradesh, which will be a mix of greenfield, brownfield, and conversion projects, with projects expected to be completed in the next three to seven years. This capital-light arrangement will grow the partnership between the groups to over 40 hotels.

The addition reflects growing demand for premium room inventory, with the upcoming Taj-branded luxury villas in Darjeeling, Lataguri and Gangtok marking the expansion.

About Ambuja Neotia

Ambuja Neotia, initially known as Bengal Ambuja, gained significant support from the Government of West Bengal, establishing itself as a pioneering joint sector entity, leading to a groundbreaking Public-Private Partnership that transformed housing accessibility. The builder has delivered 26 projects.

The Group has launched Utsodhaara Teesta Township, an 81-acre township project in Siliguri, and entered leisure homes with Vanya Awas in Lataguri. They partnered with the Taj Group and rebranded Swissotel as Taj City Centre and opened Taj Chia Kutir in Kurseong and Guras Kutir in Gangtok.

Location: Lataguri in the Dooars

Lataguri is a census town in the Malbazar subdivision of Jalpaiguri district, functioning primarily as the gateway to Gorumara National Park on National Highway 717/31, having grown out of the timber trade of the 1980s and 90s and reinventing itself as North Bengal's tourism hub once eco-tourism took root in the late 1990s. Today it is dotted with resorts, eco-lodges and guest houses rather than conventional apartment blocks.

Buyers here are mostly holiday-home seekers, resort investors and a handful of local families — not the typical urban homebuyer chasing office commutes.

Existing Ambuja Presence in Lataguri

Ambuja Neotia entered the leisure home market with Vanya Awas in Lataguri. Ambuja Vanya Awas secured its West Bengal RERA registration in 2023, offering a mixed-use residential development in the area.
